Marlene smells like (pick any two):
— chow chows — chow chows — chow chows Lilly smells like: eucalyptus oil SWMBO's perfume USPS Junk Mail (piled high in the back seat from trips to the NBU) Nellybelle smells like... an old german car... Over the years, I've had at least 3 VW beetles and they all smelled the same.

Smells...
I have had a variety of older MB cars and also US cars.
The smell of cheap plastic and the car's cheap driver prevails in older US cars, unless equipped with leather, then it is old man's odor and cigarettes. Benzes smell alike in the MB Tex category and MB Leather. I happen to like the smell because it is not cheap materials but a distinct smell of a quality you will not find in a Rice Bowl of that year, deduct the smells of smoking or anything else strange, old MB smell actually pretty good. For me, the smell means a long time to come ahead and if the 'new car smell' (of plastic) is more important, go get the new car. |

Leather and vegetable oil.
Unfortunatly there is a persistent veggie leak in the trunk tank. I will assault it again this weekend! Stephen

The smell is hard to place, but sweet cologne with vinyl, esp. when in the sun, sounds about right. Sometimes it smells like someone's old den, or a winter cabin no one has been in for a while. None of these are offensive. The smell of the heat on in the winter is very comforting, though.

i want my car to smell like a clean car, but i just cant get it there. still smells like crayons. i clean all of the seats and carpet regularly and the floor mats are new. i never smoke or eat in my car either. i think the crayon smell is coming out of the seat padding, where i cant get to it. its parked outside in the sun during the day and i think it starts to smell when it heats up.
BTW, Meguiar's car deoderizer spray is great stuff.

I never gave this topic much thought until Veloce300DT brought it up. But, every '80s era Mercedes that I test drove has a distinctive "Mercedes smell." This is especially true if the car has been locked up tight for a while. I do not know what causes this smell. Could it be the horse hair seat cushions?
Anyway, what ever causes the aroma, it is wonderful to know that not only are you riding in a Mercedes but you can also smell that you are riding in a Mercedes. |

Suprisingly, all of the cars in my family smell the same, the 80s MB sweet colonge and vinyl smell. However its on a Mercedes lemon site that scares me

What are epiphytes?
Quote:
What are epiphytes? Epiphytes are plants which grow above the ground surface, using other plants or objects for support. They are not rooted in the soil nor are they parasitic (ie they do not directly harm the other plant). By growing on other plants, the epiphytes can reach positions where the light is better or where they can avoid competition for light. Many mosses and lichens are epiphytes, as are approximately 10 per cent of all seed plants and ferns. Epiphytes are particularly common in some groups of plants, such as ferns, bromeliads (members of the pineapple family, Bromeliaceae) and orchids: over half of the 20,000 species of orchids are epiphytic. Where do most epiphytes grow? Most epiphytic seed plants and ferns are found in tropical and subtropical rainforests because they require conditions of high humidity. The areas richest in epiphytes are the montane rainforests (at altitudes around 1500 m). The trees provide many habitats with different conditions of temperature, exposure and illumination. In temperate regions, epiphytes are most common in moist forests, for example in Cornwall, south-western Ireland and along the Pacific north-west coast of the USA. |

My old smudgepot smells like Nag Champa. It's an incense made in India and covers up the smell of cigars and other things I smoke
Oh yeah, it has a faint smell of gardinias too.... but I think that's just from my own breath.
