I'd take the E46 (IMO a nicer car than the W203) but in a coupe body please The 330Cd with a manual gearbox and sports package ... that'd be an awesome car.

Then again there are many other diesels that I would love to have...

E400 CDI W211
G270 CDI

My vote goes for 5 as well.
I found there's no better MB than one with the OM617 engine.

None of the above, the only MB I would buy is the ones with OM 616/617 engines turbo or normally aspirated and W-123 body. The ones above are of no value to me.

I'm not a big fan of the new C-class, but a 3 series with a diesel and a manual! Now that sounds like a fun combo!

I am happy with my NA '84 300D in Australia. Too much electronics to go wrong with the newer cars. What % of 1980' 1990's stereos and TVs are still working correctly now?
In 20 years, my 300D will still work well, I believe that the choices you offered will all suffer from "electronic rust" which makes otherwise good engines useless because the electronics needed for operation do not allow operation any more.

I'll take one of each (if they where free) then resell them and use the money to buy/restore to perfection my and maybe a few other 126's.

The perfect MB for me would be.

C240cdi - 6sp man - 4 matic - stationwagen
white and beige interior.

But since my dream car is not available here in the US
I'll settle for my 84 300td.(267K and running strong).
Needs some TLC though.

Louis.

5, OR maybe a C220 W202 with a manual and no "climate control"
