Can a vacuum leak somewhere give you bad starts ?

Hey.....

Well one of my last projects on this car will be checking out the whole vacuum system. As far as I know everything on the car besides the vacuum system are in tip top working order (as of now). The reason why I am going after that particular system is because I am getting very rough shifts on my automatic transmission. It does shift smoothly except when going from FIRST TO SECOND it gives a bad jerk. The door locks seem to go down slowly unless that is suppose to happen. Anyways, I'm also getting bad starts from time to time when it gets to about 60 degrees.

Can a leak in the vacuum system cause bad starts ?

Thanks

To keep this really short.. which may be all you need...

Use your watch to time the glowplugs.. NOT THE LIGHT.... turn them on, wait 45 seconds, then try to start...
If that does not cure it post again...

Vacuum leaks will make the trans shift hard 1 to 2 and make for general poor performance all around. Replace all, and I mean all the little black rubber connectors/hoses and check for the difference in way carf runs and shift's.

Starting is not effected by poor vacuum.
