Guys and gals,
California, with or without an accent, pays more per gallon of any fuel because of their much stiffer regs. Due to these regs, the costs of refining are always going to be higher than for areas of use, say here in Okla. Spent a number of years employed by a local Oil Co.; and can definitely say without exception that I never understood how the rest of the country paid so little more than we did, given our close proximity to the import source and refineries. The earlier posters are all correct in stating that we are likely in the ramp up to the normal diesel is higher than gasoline part of the year, and reason being need to focus on home heating fuel is also correct. A final comment, when was the last time you tried to burn a gallon of milk, soft drink or bottled water in your MB diesel or gasser regardless of the price?!!

Lowest fuel costs in the USA
Georgia has had the lowest fuel prices (lower taxes) in the nation time after time. We are right on I-75 and benefit from several low-priced truck stops where regular is 1.67 and diesel is 1.65. They were neck-and-neck for about a week until diesel won out!
