can anyone tell me....

if this is the part located on the side of the ac drier? i need to replace that piece and then i will have ac again. any info would be appreciated.

Looks like the pressure switch that screws into the receiver/dryer to me.

Its a pressure switch. It prevents the compressor clutch from locking and running the compressor when the freon pressure is too low.

Replacing it won't fix your AC if something else is wrong. If the AC is set to work, you can jump across the pressure switch and if you hear the clutch engage, your problem could be either a bad pressure switch or you are low on freon. The usual problem is low on freon.

Check the sight glass and if you see bubbles when compressor is running, you are low on freon. Or check freon pressure with gages.
