junkyard ALDA removal attempt

Anyway, the other day I was trying to remove a virgin Alda unit from a 300D.
On the top of the IP unit, I REMOVED the 4 screws. It would ONLY ROTATE. I ALSO disconnected a SMALL METAL LINKAGE toward the firewall from the cover UNDER the Alda unit.
Please correct me if I am wrong..........I assume that this linkage MAY be a part of the shutoff mechanism.
After checking the search function, I have seen some photos of the ACTUAL ROUND ALDA unit DETATCHED from the cover underneath (the one with the 4 screws).
I am doing SOMETHING WRONG. My Alda has NEVER been tweaked! IF I do TWEAK it, I will feel much better having a REPLACEMENT on hand!
Any suggestions? There seems to be some sort of a hook that goes strait down........perhaps from the shutoff valve.......something else that I have never had to deal with.
Please comment..............I would be forever grateful to any and all of y'all out there in forum land.
I may try to stop by the boneyard today for another attempt B4 the cusher.
Thanks much,
spo out

You don't remove the 4 screws, there is one larger nut undernieth that you loosen to get it off.

There is a big hex nut underneath the alda. Unscrew that nut and the alda comes off. If I remember correctly the nut screws clockwise as you look down on the alda.

Talking

There are actually 2 nuts underneath the ALDA. It will require 2 wrenches and unless you are strong and unusually adept, 2 people. Turning only 1 nut will only tighten the darn thing, not remove it. I know...I just did mine on Saturday.

A litltle spraying (WD 40 or the like) doesnt hurt either. I found one at a yard. Have you (or anyone) put on the replacement yet - will it "match" the IP setting?

Thumbs up Thanks for the information

Oh well, upon my return to the junkyard, the entire IP unit had been removed and purchased by someone else!
Actually not that big of a deal......I have inspected the Alda attatchment on the "Black Bomber" and NOW correctly understand the removal procedure.
Another one will be at my mercy :p .
Best wishes always,
