190D Waterpump replacement question

Does anyone here know if the waterpump from a 123 200D (no that's not a type I do mean 200D) is interchangeable with the pump from a 1961 190D Ponton?

- Peter.

Here's a convoluted answer to tide you over until someone with a real brain comes along -

The 190D OM621 started life with pump p/n 115 200 12 20. Subsequent versions of the OM621 used the same pump and were upgradeable to pumps shared with the early OM615 (115 220D). Remarkably, the OM615 and OM616 (through the 1980 123 240D) began life with their own pumps but eventually were upgradeable to the 110 200 17 20. By the transitive properly of equality, I'd say you can use a 123 200D pump in a ponton 190D and vice versa but the 123 200D isn't in the US EPC for me to be more sure.

Hello,
There are only TWO waterpumps in the generic suppliers(TRW, Quinton Hazell, etc.) lists for ALL 4 and 6 cylinder Mercedes engines from the M121/OM621/M114/M130 of the fifties/sixties until the M102/103/OM601/603 replaced those venerable engines.
The one you need will measure approx. 88-90mm from the mounting flange to the fan hub, being described as *long neck*, the other is a shorter(45mm?) neck unit.
Hope that helps.

190D waterpump

Folks. Thank's for the info. I dont need one yet. My four year trial of trying to find another Mercedes continues and I found a 61 190D on E-bay which the owner of told me he'd replaced the waterpump with one from a 123 200D. Sounded funny to me so I'm just trying to verfiy if that's possible. I'm getting desperate enough now to consider even a Ponton instead of a later car. Even though I could only use it on the surface streets.

Hello,
Not to dissuade you, but a 190D is a slow car. You should look for at least a stick shift W115 220D, if diesel is your choice.
Have a good week.

Slow 190D

I know a 190D is slow. Hence my comment about not driving on freeways. But as you can see from my signature I've been looking for four years and havent ahd any luck yet. So desperation's beginning to set in.
