Interesting. The high bidder on that 300D has also bought a lifetime supply of sunroof lube in the last month. Peach Pie anyone?

eBay auction # 7913302751
bBay auction # 7913116093

You are nearly correct on the sunroof lube. Since I use it for my house window slides, sunroofs on two Toyota Camrys & VW VR-6, and in place of bees wax for drawer slides, it should not last more than a half-lifetime.

Did you mention "Peach Pie?" :p

R Leo,

Everytime you talk about peach pie and eBay in the same post you have to pay me a penny.

Pete,
What's your mailing address? I'll pop the penny in the mail.

From a timing chain crimper to another MB . . . what in h_ll will I do next for entertainment?

One of my sons saw this new purchase and has already tried putting the squeeze on to buy it from me. I have to laugh since he was going to add to his collection and was searching for a certain Camaro!!!

Butter yourself up in all that sunroof lube and slide around on a blue tarp in the bright sunshine? Stranger things have happened for entertainment.

Question: Whyintheheck would you pay so daggone much for that car?

Question 2: Are you interested in purchasing any of my prime examples of Stuttgart's finest?

Granted that is a lot of money for a car that old. Considering that you couldn't buy a Honda Civic for what you paid for it, you stole it. I have seen 20 year old cars from New England, generally not pretty. What is it worth to turn back the clock? Can't put a monetary value on it.

Always interested in purchasing things that catch my eye What do you have for prime examples?

Thanks for the words of encouragement and I'll certainly keep you posted once it is delivered in my yard. The seller (ya I know . . . some will say for what I paid . . . ) splits the cost of delivery and it will be about $400 to me for it to be delivered to my house. 30-day plates, etc. when it arrives.

This is the second MB I have bought on e_ay (didn't want to pay another penny) and hope it is at least as good as my 300TD.

Am I excited? You bet!

Car looks wonderful......

I hope that it is all that!!!!!!!

I have purchased 2 cars via the internet (generic phrase) sight unseen and have been very lucky, and pleased. Had them shipped in - kinda like christmas....... 90 Saab SPG and a 94 Saab 900TC Commemorative Edition #328

Best of luck - I also look forward to hearing more.

Stephen

Hatterasguy,
No mercy . . . you folks are going to make me read all of those posts. I noticed you have a/k/a money pit after your '87 MB??? Though your mileage is substantially more than what is on my '87 300 TD I am curious what types of problems you have had (I may have to look forward to).

My problems stem from lack of maintaince by the po, and age. The engine is running perfectly, everything else needs attention. Just keep up on repairs and you should never have to deal with most of the things I am.

I too followed your purchase and spoke with the seller who in my opinion does the best job of presentation of anyone on Ebay. I suspect you indeed got a real gem. I have a black/black 85 300D that I purchased new on the European delivery program. It has 95k and documentation from the order sheet through today. It is absolutely pristine and always garage kept. I have even recorded every gallon of fuel ever put in the tank--oil changes every 2k mi--you get the picture. I was just curious as to what your car was going to bring on Ebay. Mine is NOT for sale but it never hurts to keep up with the value---Good Luck and I hope you enjoy
Joel
