I recently switched to running on WVO and I have noticed reduced power especially with the A/C running. It does run quieter and smoother on WVO than it does on diesel. I have tried just starting on WVO on a couple of mornings. It did fire up but it took a little extra cranking to get it to fire over and it would miss a little for roughly a minute but it would run fine after that. It also smokes much less on WVO than on diesel in the morning. I do notice what I would guess is nailing upon starting up on diesel where as on WVO there wasn't any.
The one thing that worries me about running on veggie is that sometimes I notice some small bubbles in the line. I've read that air bubbles in the line can cause cavitation to the IP which is something that can ruin a pump. I guess I'll start a thread to discuss this.

The sulfur has noting to do with lubrication, its the process that removes the sulfur that hurts lubricity. ULSD has additives from the refinery to meet lubrication specs requirements before it is even sold. The stations often add their own brand of additives which further increases lubricity.
People have a sky is falling reaction when it comes to ULSD. Most of the time it is fuel contamination and/or poor filtering that causes the problems, not lubrication. |
