I plan on doing the same. I have a Ford keyless door module and a couple of key fobs. But first I have to rebuild the engine and restore the interior.

I think I've solved it on my own, and I'm certainly not paying someone 25 bucks for directions. Thanks!

You need a RKE system that will send a lock/unlock signal for 2-3 seconds. The typical half-second pulse usually isn't enough to trigger the central locking pump. You'll also need a diagram of how to hook up two 85/85a relays to convert the typical lock/unlock signal into a signal the MB central locking pump will understand. Crutchfield used to sell a harness with sockets for 2 Bosch relays. I think they sold out. Of course if you go the auxiliary solenoid route, you won't have this problem.

keyless entry

http://www.drdetailshop.com/476A.htm

The W124 already had this installed.
The lock and unlock icons work perfectly.
I hope nothing is connected to the "aux" or "alarm" icons because they do not work.
(I fantasize about remote start... one for glow plugs... the second for START)
[slackard wants cool interior upon entering] Then there's the issue of auto-
matic shutdown @ lower oil pressure , always an issue for unattended idle.
OR Steve's correct lectures about the inability of alternators to maintain
all systems @ idle with Fan(s) and A.C. on.[Balmar on the West Coast makes
some incredible alternator/generators for marine use...isolated ground]. Can
you have too powerful an alternator?

My w123 has keyless entry, and a remote starter. The former has an option for the long lock/unlock signal, and am using a 126 vacuum pump. The later has a delay for glow plug cycling. Work's like a charm. Design Tech brand.

Here is a good one can a remote start be put on an SDL? Their so nice in the winter, it wouldn't take much of a computer to cycle the glow plugs and than crank.

Many aftermarket remote start units actually have a glowplug delay function built in. Makes it a piece of cake to install, and probably nice to have for cold NE winters...
