Motor Mount
Can anyone describe to me how hard it would be to remove the drivers side engine mount arm. I have noticed my engine jumping when I stop my 300sd. Well the 8mm bolt on the bottom appears to be stripped and will not tighten. Is it hard to change this arm.
Thanks, Dieselman |

Probably not stripped, just not started on the threads yet, it's a pointed bolt.
You may need to pry the engine sideways a bit to get the bolt in, or loosen the small bolts and move it around until the big bolt starts. If you do need to change the arm, just jack up the engine a bit and remove the four nuts that hold the engine carrier on. It will slip right off. Main problem would be finding another one for less than an arm and a leg.... Peter

Just retap the threads, or if they're too far gone, use as helicore insert. |

I am facing the exact same problem on my wifes 300SD, first symptom was when the exhaust header pipe cracked. Probably from the vibration due to there being NO motor mounts at all !!! Both sides had the bolt gone. I replaced one and noticed that the other has been stripped out. I plan on fixing that this weekend. I have plenty of spare engines to pull the 'leg' from
let me know if you need one and which side,
