I know where the First-Aid kit is in my '87 300TD . . . where is the fire extinguisher hidden? Must be the spare is filled or something . . . MB thought of everything else.
What oil thread is coming???

I've talked to several original owners of these cars bought in the early to mid '80's and none knew anything other then it's a great car. One guy didn't even know if it was a turbo 300 or NA 300 W123 and when I mentioned W123 he corrected me and said it was an '83 300D. So it pays to get as much info up front before heading out to look/buy a car. I called 3 or 4 times before I went for 3 hour drive to buy my 240D.

SHOW ME Otherwise all you gotta do is look at the back of the car- all wagons say the same thing- TD; all coupe say the same thing CD; all sedans say the same thing D. If you call it something else it's because someone made it up. |

But most parts houses list the extra T. Even online I sometimes catch myself looking past my model in the list and having to come back to it because it says 300CDT. But it's not a hassle, just a fact of life. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who owns one, can call it what they like. Afterall, it's their car. I get more confused when I read posts that say something like "I just changed to oil on Sherry, and next week Dolly is getting a new transmission".

MTU,
Mercedes has been doing it for years. If you were sitting at a stop light behind an early 60 220S, the trunk doesn't inform you that it is a 220Sb. I have an old car sitting in my garage that says 280SE on the trunk, but bein that it is a 71 3.5 SEC, I think it is worth a few dollars more than a 4 door 280SE. Trust me. MB does this. If you still need proof, I'll have to burn a copy out of one of the MB manuals. Peter
