Won't start? Don't assume NSS failure
Well my wifes car stopped starting. I could short the terminals and run it, which I've been doing for over a week now. Today I had the chance to dig and figure out what the problem was.
I assumed that the neutral safety switch had failed since I had just replaced the entire ignition assembly. So I start fiddling with the NSS. I tried adjusting it.. no luck. Pulled the NSS off my other 300D and installed it.... no luck. Adjusted that one.. no luck. So I go to the ignition switch and pull the assembly from my other 300D. Pop it into my wifes and zoom, starts right up. Stupid assembly I bought at the junkyard a few months ago and the switch goes bad. Glad I didn't go ahead and order a new NSS and find this out after installing it. The up side.. when I put the NSS back into my other 300D, I'll take pictures for those of us who like to see what they are messing with ahead of time. FYI, the picture in the W123 Hanes manual is not the NSS from an '83 300D or an '84 300D..
