Vacuum pump diagnostics
I posed this question in another thread.. thought I might stand a better chance of getting an answer in a dedicated one.
How quickly should the vacuum pump in a 300D get up to vacuum? If I block everything off and check the vaccum on the main line. It will get up to 25bars. However, it takes a good 30 seconds or so to reach that level. Is it normal for it to take that long?

If there are no leaks between your vacuum gague and the pump that sounds way too long. My '85 will max out in less than 10 seconds at idle. It may be time to put in a new diaphram. Vacuum pumps on 617 engines can be rebuilt but I wouldn't try it on a 603.
