If the taillight issue is not a bulb, check for heat deformed plastic around the female socket on circuit board laminate of the taillight assembly (inside the trunk). The deformation causes contact voids between the socket and bulb. Believe it or not I fixed it with a makeshift shim using nylon filament fishing line wound around the socket that acts like a washer - crude but effective. It's hard to explain, but idea is to bring the metal to metal contact together. The nylon won't deform like the poorly chosen plastic by the MB engineers. So far my engineered solution (yes I "is" one) has lasted three years.

I said "disc" not "disk", yes CD=Compact Disc, this is what I meant when I said "disc".
