2 cycle oil... added to fuel ???

I am not sure of the benefit of adding oil to your fuel, but has anyone tried 2 stroke oil???

It would burn it, probably wouldn't do much else.

It restores some of the lubricity of the fuel that is lost throught he sulphur reduction process. For rotary pumps, which are fuel lubed, this is a good thing. For our MB's, which are lubed by engine oil, it won't make any difference.

I have....it is DESIGNED to burn.............it will ENHANCE any top end lubrication in the engine.
I am ALSO running 1 gallon of HIGH TEST GASOLINE in the Black Bomber as an experiment to see if the injectors are a little dirty, (noticible at idle).....seems to have helped somewhat. Only running 1/2 tank of diesel with the gasoline
See 'ya,
spo out

I read the two stroke thing on a ford truck site. In cold climates the winter blend diesel is essentially the same thing as kerosene and lacks the lubrication necessary for their stanadyne injection pumps. Some people add about a cup of two stroke oil to help lube their pumps. It couldn't hurt our Bosch pumps but I have never heard that it is necessary.

Other than that it burns for fuel like any oil in our cars.

In the winter I run a mix of 50% Stanadyne Performance Formula or Howes Lubricator additive with 50% West Marine brand 2-cycle oil. About 8oz of this stuff to each 30 gallon fillup with my truck. This is primarily to help the fuel lubricated Stanadyne injection pump live with the winter fuel. Since these pumps are notorious for only lasting @150K and I now have 200+K on mine I am on borrowed time so every little thing helps. Don't think it would help the Bosch pump much but don't see how it would hurt either. RT

Thanx

I appreciate all of the veteran diesel drivers helping me along. Adding 2 cycle oil this morning. Now..... there are 2 types of 2 cycle oil. One is for water cooled 2 strokes, like a boat motor, and there is a type for chainsaws and such, air cooled motors. I am using the air cooled type. Maybe has better lubricating properties????? :) :) :)
