I've had one too many threads stripped when trying to use a torque wrench, especially on small fasteners, and especially in aluminum threads. I only use a torque wrench on fairly large, high-torque items, and/or non-aluminum... wheel lug bolts, crankshaft center bolt, belt tensioner lever arm, camshaft sprocket, etc. Little things like the M6 vac pump bolts into an aluminum cover, no way. Those get hand-tightened just past "snug", roughly 1/8 turn past finger tight. Just my $0.02...

This thread is an excellent advertisement for using an oil sucker to drain engine oil. You reduce (theoretically to zero) the number of times that you have to disturb the drain plug and its crush washer. No more worries about "did I get it tight enough?" No more risk of stripping threads. No more belly pan removal, jacking up, crawling under.
