Busybenz, I might be planning a trip to Mass.! (that or arrange shipping.)
Sady as I post number #601 reply to your thread. How much money do you think you've spent on your car?...I know a place here in Austin that will have your IP. You can call them and ask for a qote and i've found them to be reasonable. You never know, at this point it wouldn't hurt to try.

I know a rebuilt IP for a 603 runs about $600-$700, I am sure a 617 is probably slightly cheaper, but I would bet on close to $600.

That is a tough call if the car is really nice a rebuilt IP would make the engine run better. But at this point $600 could probably be put into other areas. Because as soon as you get that car on the road you will probably find a few more problems.

Yeah, 602 posts now, this is 603, soon well be at 617! You think well ever make it to 1000? (you know, after I get her out on the road, and I do my veggie conversion?)

I tallied costs recently... close to $3000. BUt, know that that includes special tools that I did not have that I bought to work on the car with (hoist, vavle adjustment wrenches) plus all the parts, and trips to hardware stores for that one nut.. At the end of this thread, if it ever comes, I will post up an exact tally.

As I said, I emailed aaron who lives in cincinnati who has a new in the box rebuilt 617 injection pump on the parts forum. He is asking $800

Yeah, there are many other things I need/want/have to do when I get her out on the road.

$800 is a little high, $550 +/- would be a better price. Besides I would get yours rebuilt you don't want someone elses problems.

$3k isn't to bad, you will probably double that within a year. But it's only money.

Once you get the car on the road, hmm the sound system could be better. Hmm the suspension could be better, ect ect.

WOW, Is that cost include the purchase of the car as well? Andy if you have to purchase an IP, even a rebuilt or used one it's going to cost more money. Even if you get it on is this going to solve your problem? Most likely it will, but like Hatterusguy stated, you probably have other hidden problems. How is your tranny, suspension system look and oter internal parts? This is something we expect on older MB's.

I remember back in April when I first drove my SDL around the block I came back with about 6 more issues that needed to be resolved. It is a process, personaly at this point in the game I would look into finding a proven good used IP for $100 or so. Save the other $500 you will need it soon enough.

Yes, that includes the $300 I spent on the car in the first place.

Yeah, an IP is going to cost money.

If a new/good IP does not solve my problems, what else could it be? I have replaced everything else? Injectors freshly rebuilt, good turbo, good engine compression, good glow plugs, good fuel and fuel flow, good exhaust and exhaust flow, air filter is currently not even on, fresh oil at the right level, fresh coolant, good level of tranny fluid. If and IP doesnt fix it, I would have to get the good used engine off of BusyBenz.

I guess I could go ahead and see about shipping the whole engine from Busybenz, Ill PM/email him.

Guess what Andy, of maybe 3 items I plucked from my 617, one of them is the alda! Yes, the alda on the 617 and 603 are the same. I also took the transmission modulator valve too, as it fits my 87 300D as well. Both are installed in 87 300D. Also absent is a couple of vac hoses, but everything else should still be there. If you still want the 617, it yours. Call Roadway Express. They will tell you what it will cost to ship. I do have a pallet and can secure engine to the pallet for ship. ....BB

Just got off the phone with roadway.

They first told me it would be about $600... then after tweeking it a bit, they got the price down to a reasonable $262. Which really is not that bad. The thing is, Im not sure of the condition of my ALDA, and the new engine would not come with one. I dont know how hard it would be to find, or how much it would cost.

BusyBenz, what do you think? Also, is is coming from ashaway? or did you say something about massachuchettes? That might change the price.?

Right now that $150 Ip off of febay is looking appealing.

This is the first time I posted anything in this thread, but I would go for the IP off ebay, if that doesn't work, you could always sell it back.
