My WVO lines are the braided poly vinyl ones that you typically see serving up soda syrup. So far, after several months and well over 6k miles the hoses are holding up quite well. My injector return lines started to ooze so I recently replaced them.

I think WVO must be the most benign fuel ever. I have burned several hundred gallons since my conversion, and not had one bit of trouble with filters or lines.

OTOH, I am pondering a biodiesel brewing setup, and need a good idea for a sight glass, as I intend to use a steel drum to mix, separate and wash. In order to see the layers, I'll need a sight from the very bottom to most of the way up, and it's got to handle methanol, lye and biodiesel. I wonder if that braided poly would hold up - it comes in very large sizes, and is very common....

The guys here at Austin BioFuels are appear to be using clear vinyl tubing for a sight glass in their reactor. I will check and confirm this next Tuesday when I go for a B-100 fix.

As you can see from my sig. I have had some experience in using Waste Vegetable Oil as a fuel in my cars over the past 4 years. I also have had problems with fuel line deterioration, but I only replace the fuel lines as they deteriorate, so apart from the last injector return line (the plugged one) on both 300Ds, I have not needed to repplace any fuel lines this year.

I am using the 20 litre cubees as fuel tanks in my car, with the fuel suction line long enough to allow the cubees to be removed from the car. This allows the changeover to happen without any spillage of the oil in the boot (trunk).
I now have a "Holley Blue" fuel pump in the boot, pushing the WVO to the front of the car thru an additional OEM fuel line (from "Blue" - my parts car). A coolant/fuel heat exchanger connects to the additional fuel line, and then to the additional WVO filter. The WVO then goes thru another heat exchanger before going to the fuel selector switch. The return lines are looped to the IP inlet.
I swapped the return line banjo fitting (3 hose) from the main diesel filter, for the IP inlet banjo fitting (single hose). This allowed a continual bleed from the diesel filter to the main tank, but allowed a simple loop to the IP inlet, for both fuels from IP and injector returns.
Bleeding of air after filter changes is simplified due to the electric fuel pump in the boot allowing the air to be pressure bled thru a "cracked" union on the WVO filter, and the filter bleed on the main fuel tank filter allowinf the priming pump to bleed the air from that filter as normal. Air in the IP and injector lines seems to dissipate rapidly once the engine is firing.

WFO collection update.

I collected another 30something gallons of the nicest, honey-colored oil from my pal Curtis' restaurant today. The only hitch was that sometime last week a sticky-finger walking past my pickup, swiped the piece of my grease PVC spear that had the 3/4" hose to 3/4" MIP adapter for the pony pump...grrr.

I don't care about the PVC, but missing the damned adapter practically brings collection to a halt. In order to continue my collection antics, I had to wing it and I confiscated a chunk of old hose from out in the back yard...works ok but I managed to get more floating corn meal than I would have using the spear.

Now that I've made a couple of collection trips, I'm getting a better idea of how I want to finalize my collection apparatus. I'll take some pics and post them when I get it all done.
