injectors 115bars or 135bars
I am replacing two injectors on a 1983 300SD. The rebuilt ones I received are stamped 115bars but the ones i removed from the engine are marked 135bar. physically they look the same.
Since these are rebuilt can i believe the pressure stamped in the steel core? Does it make a big difference if they are not the same pressure? Why are there two types made by Bosch for MB diesels?

Your car should have 135 bar injectors. The naturally aspirated 616/617s took the 115 bar variety. Since the injector bodies are identical, some rebuilders will mix and match the outer bodies where the pressure stamp is located. As long as the innards have been rebuilt to fire at 135 bar, there's no problem. If you have any question have them pop tested. If you don't, and these really are 115 bar injectors, you know the first time you start your engine. I imagine that it would rock dangerously and idle, and probably nail and smoke like a demon.

Thanks TJohn. BTW the rebuilt injectors have a wide rubber band on them that covers the writing casted on the body. the writing shows the pressure. I was wondering what purpose that band served and now I know, to hide the pressure which is not necessarily correct. Wish the rebuilders took a little time to match the case with the pressure but i guess that would be asking too much.

The turbo charged earlies all go with the 135 BAR injectors.

wrong injectors
I just pulled a set from a 1976 300d they were new looking rebuilds, When I pop test them they are great injectors but they are 135 bar injectors not 115 bar. Would it run with 135 bar injectors or did this nice looking coupe end up in the wrecking yard because some one sent him the wrong injectors?
