95 E300 Diesel

I just drove back home my new(for me) E300D,750 miles trip, average 32 mpg
with AC on(part time),I think this car really needs a 5 speed tranny not a 4 speed,at 75mph I allready had 3500rpm,so,newer models 97-up with 5 speed automatic should get better gas mileage, great car despite the fact that needs to run at high rpm to keep up with the tollway traffic 80-85mph.

3500rpms

I don't think my 95 e300d revs even close to that high at 75mph. I'll check it tonight.

Question That sounds odd

Something does not compute.
Seems to be possible critical data missing here.

Should be hitting 3100 +- 200'ish rpm at that speed. That would be accurate for any '95 E300D at 75 mph.

70 mph should be nearer 3K, but not quite.

95 e300d rpms

95 e300d, 137,000. Checked mine on Friday. Cruising easily at 75 with a/c on tach needle was exactly between 3000 and 3500 marks.

My '97 sits right at 3,000RPM doing 75mph. And that's with the 5 speed transmission.
