I believe the answer is yes, and no! If unless you have what is known as a "pop" tester, you will not be able to adjust each of your injectors to match one to another. A balanced set all "pop" (the moment of injector opening to squirt diesel) at the same precise pressure applied making each injector popping from the same values applied.

Spray pattern is another issue of which I have little knowledge but I'm aware that patterns can be poor and effect quality of combustion!

This is why I sent my injectors out for rebuild and balance. Many here will tell you to go to any big truck repair shop and they can rebuild and balance but I have read where some have had problems because the mechanics were not familiar with MB Bosch. I decided to have my injectors done by someone who knows and understands MB's and is aware of the inferior India replacement parts, and who has the variety of the many different size shims, or washers needed to be able to balance the injector properly. A truck shop may have only a limited number of shim sizes and give you only as close to balance as his shims allow. Shim, washer, spacer, whatever you call them, come in different thickness, they are installed into the injector body atop the spring and ultimately adjust spring tension.

Steve...........

Dissassmbleing and cleaning one is a DIY job. Checking pressures and balancing a set is not (unless you have a pop-tester).

Did you clean it correctly and clean everything making sure to put it all back together clean and with a new heat shield?

The following link is the procedure for Dissassmbley, cleaning, assembly and adjustments of MB injectors for your car.
