Here are some Vacuum diagrams for everyone. They are for a 85 300CD (federal) and 300Ds. They are similar for other models and years.

EDIT: The diagrams were moved to the new post at http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/105297-vacuum-diagrams.html along with quite a few added ones.

These are great, thanks.

Great timing!

Phantoms,
While replacing my cigar hose I accidently broke one of the vacuum ports on the main booster line on my 85 300D. We rearranged the other lines so I would have shut off and door locks but had a hard shift. I eventually lost my shut off due to low vacuum. I got my new main line from the booster installed this week, shut off returned, doors lock but trans still shifts a bit firm. I had forgotten where to route the vac hoses to solve my remaining challenge and couldn't find a good 85 diagram. Your post, along with this great article
(http://users.vnet.net/w123d/w123d/transmission.htm) on MB transmissions, will hopefully get me back to smooth shifting, locking, shutting-off diesel bliss!

Thanks!

they are not the same? What year(s) did the vaccum arrangement change between on cars using the 617 turbo and an Automatic.

phantoms 09-29-2004 10:37 PM

81TD should be pretty much the same. Can only go back to 82 (not 81 as I thought). I'll try to get the 82 240D Vacuum diagrams copied and scanned this week. I've been loaded down with work lately and haven't had much time for much else.

Cool dude. I've just been going slow and using the regular pictures on the repair manual CD. I will be checking the under dash vacuum motors next, not looking forward to that. I figure if nothing else I guess the rubber connectors need replaced. I know that I need to check the defroster, because the a/c will cause condensation above the defrost vents. But then the a/c will give you an icecream headache.
