Installed rebuilt injectors today. Supplied heat shields had smaller holes than the ones I removed – is that significant? Engine doesn’t run well – nothing happens when I crack #2, will put one of the old ones back in tomorrow. Pretty disappointed. Managed to break a vacuum connection *%##*! Noticed a few cam lobes were pretty rough – this cam has been replaced once – how big an issue is this??

Crash9,
I think you may have found the source of your problem; the cam lobes. The 240s as well as some non-turbo 300s had non-hardened cams and rockers in the beginning of the production years. Then, Mercedes realized it's better to have them all hardened, 240 and 300 models alike, sometime in the early eighties. You might benefit from installing a set of the modern hardened rockers and cam with cam towers, as they are different as well. Good luck, Adam |
