1964 190D Question

I have an opertunity to buy a 1964 190 D with 95k. Does anyone have any input on this car? What would a fair price be. It appears to run well and the body is in fairly good condition. Thanks

I recall seeing a Mercedes stat sheet that listed the 0-60mph time on this car at around 32 seconds.

Here is a website with some advice for owners and buyers of the "Ponton" cars:

Ponton advice

It also mentions that the 180d did 0-60 in 40 seconds.

0-60 in 40sec!!!! OMG you would die trying to get onto the highway.

BTW a Mclaren F1 can do 0-211 in 28sec.

Look at it this way, you will never be able to get a speeding ticket.

Wouldn't a '64 be a Heckflosse, not a Ponton? Love them little 13 in wheels and tires!
For 190D Heckflosse you have to see: http://www.heckflosse.nl/190.htm
These were for times when life was slower, people weren't in such a hurry, and turn signals were something that were used by everyone (that had them!)
Nowdays its a different way of life.
Taking one of these babies out on a freeway is only viable while its in rush-hour gridlock!

It probably is a Heckeflosse. It looks like the Pontons were completely out of production in 1962.

Better put a rocket or jet engine in the trunk-you'd get flattened driving one of those around here(but they are kind of cute in an old school kind of way) :p

How about a big rubber band that twists tighter when you step on the brake (helps to slow down too)...And when you're ready to go, the unwinding rubber band will help propel you in a forwardly direction.

I actually wouldn't mind having one...but I would have to be sure and drive it when there isn't much traffic around.

btw.. There is someone on eBay selling 2 oil filters for a 190D...not sure if they are hard to find or not. Auction ends tomorrow (9/30) in the evening.
