Lumpy idle+lots of smoke=bad injectors?

This is kind of a newbie question. I've only owned my car a few months and I'm sorting out some neglected maintenance stuff. I replaced the glow plugs and that smoothed out the cold idle some. But I still get lots of black smoke at idle all the time, and at low speeds, and a lumpy idle that doesn't seem to go away. Should I go ahead and replace the injectors?

Secondly, can anyone point me to a "how-to" article on injector replacement?

Thanks!
