Alan did you apply for a mileage badge yet? I am calling them tomarrow and will have them fax me the papers. I am hoping to have it all in the mail next week. That 250k badge will cover up a crack in my grill very nicely.

Hattie,

No, I keep thinking about it, but I heard that you had to go to the dealerships so that someone there could verify it in person. Let me know if you find another way. If you can just fill out a form and fax in, I will send you a fax # and you can send me a clean copy of the form you get?

Pull foot out of mouth! Last night I get home and get the "dad, I need to talk to you about something" discussion. Turns out he backed my 300D into a fire hydrant and smashed the taillight and slightly bent the trunk lid. I am glad I have been waiting to do any body repairs on that car. Since it had some significant rust issues, it may become the beater car.

I still have to take it to the dealer, but I am lucky to have two within 15-20min of me.

Now you have a good reason to get the bodywork done if you want to fix the 300D. When I first started driving I backed my Camry into various signs and buildings I'm glad I got all of my car beating out of the way before the SDL.

Yea, I think I will wait until next fall to see what other damage he does first. That will determine how extensively I repair it.

It really takes a year to get all of the major mistakes out of the way. Just wait for winter! What I did my first winter was take my car to an ice covered parking lot and slide it around. It was great fun and I learned how to control a spin, slide ect. It saved me about a month later when my tail end started to come around. That was scary but if I hit the brakes it would have been much worse After it snows up here before they salt the roads I will take my SDL to a parking lot and see how a rwd car does. It should be a lot of fun.

Mileage Update, Update mileage!

Hattie,

December 1st - lets do a mileage check. I am sure you are still ahead. I have not done any real big trips lately.

I am at 240,300 miles as of today.

Sorry to have been quiet. Got a lot going on right now and have to do real work.

I may not beat ya to 250k, but I'm sure gonna try...and then there's 300K!
Things breaking? When I bought this car, the transmission had been rebuilt fairly recently (like months before). Bloody thing has always flaired a bit when cold on 2-3 and 3-4. Doing it more and worse lately. I'm gonna go over the vacumm system real good soon and see if maybe it's getting a bad signal there. yeah, I hope. Trunk is getting more water. Of course it has been raining for a month around here. Part of the problem is trunk gasket, rest I don't want to think about. And I think I'm going to inspect/repack the front wheel bearings because I think one of them is getting loud. The killer is, this car is sooo good even with the problems, I just gotta find out how great it is when they (and a few others) are fixed.
