I can't tell you how many times I have seen state cops going 80+ in the left lane pushing people out of the way. Only the local guys go 65.

Couldn't tell ya first hand but from what I have seen, read, and heard...they scoot.
Remember yet again we aren't looking at HP per say, but torque.
I've rode in a new beetle TDI (stock everything) and you have torque like MAD at low RPM...stickshift of course.
Dad has talked of TDI guys rolling up next to him on the freeway, giving them a thumbs up and they showed him a sign that said "its chipped"...barked the tires and took off...dad had the cruise set at 85....
Torquey well geared little boxes that get great mileage 180HP might not seem much to a heavy benz but 180HP to a VW (most any model) is a bit of juice under the hood.
A 16valve 1.8L engine is even peppy...(gas of course)
I was doing some reading and I think they hover around 120-140HP with stock goodies? Not sure...not many people dynoing

I guess you could count me into this race too! I just realized my odo is up to 245K just turned today!

I'll guess that by June, or maybe sooner, It'll be there!
