You won't lose milage, your turbo will spool faster. But how much louder??????? That I can't answer.

In some states a turbo IS a muffler. Anything that creates a major restriction/velocity reduction is a form of muffler.

As for N/A Diesels, I've never seen or heard one. But I'd be willing to bet it's much louder than a Turbo model.

It would be a little louder in the car, may set off some car alarms due to resonance frequency.
You should gain mileage unless you put your foot in it.
Small power gain by removing restrictions.

does anyone have a diagram of the 93 300D exhaust system? what i will probably end up doing is remove the cat and the center muffler but leave the rear muffler, my aftermarket muffler...i like the way it looks on the car...so it will be straight pipe from engine bay to rear muffler..

what size piping should i do? 2.5"? 3"? i believe the inlet on my exhaust is 2.5, i'll make sure and i guess i'll just use whatever size the inlet is...

Straight pipe with ram air makes a huge difference, better performance, cooler running, more fuel economy and way better throttle response, at least with a turbo.

My ram air setup is quite simple actually, since I have a cylindrical air filter like the one used in MB commercial vehicles, I have just diverted the rubber intake hose toward the grill opening, being quite close to the grill and having a very short path, it gets fresh, oxygen rich air and the performance combined with the straight pipe has increased considerably.

Sorry cant provide you with pictures for now.

I think some nice fat 4" mandrel bent tubing is in order.

I asked about a N/A engine. That stands for Normally Asperated- ie non turbo.

Smile Small correction.

Hello MTUpower
