vwnate1, hard to say what's not working as there's a whole host of minor maladies and my first full-time experience with an operational 240D. The other one I have is an automatic which I drove once from the PO's place to my storage, so besides the typical door actuator issues (go down but not up) I'm not sure how much vacuum, if any, runs the manual climate control stuff or anything else. All my other MB's are 300's with ACC so that's what I'm more familiar with. With a good vacuum schematic (thanks toomany MBZ for the posts, whunter had sent some too, but I don't have an EGR or switchover valve with the manual tranny) I could verify what's under the hood with factory plumbing. As it is now I'm pretty certain some hoses were just plugged into whatever the PO or his mech could fit and still run the car. So, really, I'm just looking for reference to put things right in a manual tranny 240D.
Thanks!

The first pic here shows the intake opening sealed off. That is my old 82 240 with a manual transmission. The egr vac lines have been removed. The second pic shows basically the vac line route as I have edited. Just recently he took off the VCV, as it's only function is to tell the automatic transmission what to do. As best as I can tell, you have the ALDA/ADA hooked into a green vacuum line, that ALDA/ADA should be open to the atmosphere and vacuum from the main line going to the green line.

190D vacuum schematic
I've been looking high and low for a schematic for my '85 W201 601.
I've read this whole thread and it seems noone has a reference to the baby Benz'. I'm particularly looking for the 'destination' of two lines that branch out from a 5 point connector above the vacuum pump. Besides the line that goes to the pump, another (which is now grey,) runs up high and turns into brown at the firewall, then to the ignition switch. Another is grey/blue which holds good vacuum and goes to what I believe is the EGR on the firewall near the battery. The other two are my questions. One is now grey, which may have been changed, and it runs parallel with another line which is grey/black. Both of these lines 'disappear' toward the back of the engine in sheathing and both have severe leaks, one seeming not connected, the other getting a bit of vacuum. Where are these lines supposed to go? |

Is what you're searching for in the pics?

Yeah, thanks, at least part of it is. Where do I get the legend to identify the numbers of some of the vacuum pods? Sure will save pulling a lot a stuff in the way to the connections in order to identify.

That is from the epc:http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/welcome.jsp free to Americans. Enter your six digit car chassis, in your case it's 201.122.
Not sure if that will help, but maybe it's a start. Good luck.

vacuum diagram for W124 E300D
This really helped me figure out what lines had been 'rerouted' and which were supposed to be open as vents.
It looks accurate for my 1995 E300D and may be accurate for other model years, but please confirm yourself.

I looked through the thread and did not find it. Can someone please point me to a vacuum diagram for a 602 190D (1986/NA), California model? When refreshing the intake, I may have switched a line or two. Thanks!

Hey guys,
I've looked through this thread and didn't see it, but I'm looking for a vacuum diagram for an '84 190D 2.2L w/ manual transmission. Does anybody have one of those that they would be willing to post up? The car's vacuum system was a mess when I got it and I want to make it right. |
