Rare diesel for sale, 190D 2.5 turbo.

Here is the complete add in the paper:

Mercedes 190D 2.5 Turbo 1987, Diesel. Runs excellent. 33mpg $2,000.

I just came across the add while I was reading the paper I thought somone might be interested. PM me if you want the phone number. I don't know where the car is located somewhere in CT.

Hit up Kamil, he is looking for one.

Wife will turn Lorrena Bobbitt on me if I buy another car before I sell some.

Rare diesel for sale? come'on- that's a sprinkled term! How many W123's on ebay have you seen the dealer describe as "Rare! turbo diesel!" Have been known to last 500,000 miles! This beauty has all records and been maintained by a shop owner! A/C blows, just needs charging. Tranny shifts but sometimes is off- may just need fluid. Rear windows don't work- probably just a bad switch. etc etc
Sorry Hatterasguy- had to bust you on the rare diesel thing. Those 2.5's are a nice package.

I think its the turbocharger that makes this one rare, MTU.

If this car has a 5spd manual trans it makes my SDL look like a large production car. Even with an auto it is a rare animal, their are not many 2.5 190D's around. I stand by what I said it is a rare car.

Btw it is a W201 not a W123.

I know it's not a W123. Rare would be the euro 250D that just sold- that was not a W201. Come down to south florida- I see quite a few 190 2.5's- more N/A than turbo's. They had 125 hp US version. Check this site

Sometimes I forget I live in Palm Beach county. I'd have to say that over 85% of homes in Palm Beach (the city) have at least one mercedes- and the rest of the county is not far behind. The median housing price here is just under $300K- for the whole county. Maybe they are rarer than I thought.....

Built for one year only = rare. I think the turbo 603 wagons are more common.

I'll keep my eyes open for one. As far as the numbers, first is the official model #, then the years built, then the HP(122, 126, 125).

I've got a camera and will post pics of one when I find one for sale. I have found a 85 300 SD for sale- and will post pics for other to tell me what they might think it's worth.

I'd definitely be interested if it was a manual tranny. Been looking for some time now witn no good results. Everything is automatic, or it has been beat to $hits.

It's Rare

It is actually rare.
The official import numbers were 1987 only and there were less than a couple thousand.
They are ALL auto's.
It is the rarest of the 190's in the US (they made it for years abroad, but not here).
For years I wanted to convert one to a five speed, but I finally decided against it, I would rather drive my trusty 84 to 400kmi.

IMHO it qualifies as rare.
