Blown fuse caused by transmission?

Hello All:
My son has an '84 300D. Fuse #14 which is connected to the horn, back up lights, transmission, and auxilary fan, continues to blow. I've elimintaed the horn & back up lights as the cause. I don't think it's the auxilary fan - it hasn't been hot enough or sat in traffic to require the fan to kick on. I'm beginning to suspect the transmission. Has anyone else experienced this and idenified the fix?
Thanks in advance,
Kbike

May still be the aux fan. Try disconnecting it (follow the wire to just inside the radiator support) and seeing if it still happens. Or you could diconnect the pressure switch at the dryer and replace the fuse, jumper it and make sure the fan runs and the fuse doesn't blow.

Edit: Jumper the A/C pressure plug, not the fuse.

I had the same problem on my 83 300D. The cause was damaged insulation on the wire which goes from the kick-down switch to the transmission. This only happend when flooring the accelerator. Just look for the small gage wire which is lying on the top of the braket holding the transmission mount.
