eBay: Euro 1984 Mercedes-Benz : 300-Series 300D, 123, D Ends Oct-17-04 16:37:16 PDT

It is not cheap but it looks like the real thing. I don't know anything about this car or about the seller, just saw it on eBay.

Two things would concern me about that car. One, it is a Connecticut car that is showing some rust. On a W123 that means there is bound to be more rust hidden somewhere.

Two, it is a non-turbo engine with an autobox. LarryBible posted about this a long time ago, saying the extra cylinder makes it so much harder to work on, and you give up the 25% extra torque to the transmission.

There's a white Euro 300D that I'm keeping my eye on here. Pristine Florida car with manual transmission. Now that's the ticket!

I agree with the rust comment. Coming from Conn. there has to be more rust hidden.

Also, didn't this model have cruise control? If so I don't see the actuator under the hood. I did notice cc wasn't listed in the description so maybe this one doesn't have it.

Cheers,

Bill

Who knows? It may be junk. I think the price is already at the limit.

The comment on rust caught my eye also. Many of our northern brethren live with that stuff and the rest of the car looks so good, except the seat covers. Big mistake, if the car has original seats in good shape they should be highlighted.

This car very well may not have come with CC. My 82 euro car did not.

A NA car that runs the way it is supposed to is pretty peppy, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

It still looks like a nice example I would check for more rust before writing it off. The rust on the fender looks like a rock chip that got out of hand.

Hand crank windows and manual sunroof? Wow... this one will be cheap to maintain.

Looks pretty sharp. I have no interest in the car, but to you folks worrying about rust, what if the owner never drove it during "the salty road season" :p ? I know, the mileage is pretty high and chances that it has never seen the salty roads are slim, but it is possible. The car will fetch a high price.
