w201 kickdown switch has no voltage
My kickdown function is inop. I tested for power at the switch and found no voltage with key on and trans in park. Fuse #1 is ok. What is between switch, which is good, and F1? Is it one of those relays in the black box below the fuse holder? If so, how do you test them?

I just went through this with my 87 Turbo. No power to the switch. It gets power from the Clima relay actually. After checking any wiring easily checked I ending up running a jumper wire to the wire terminal buss behind the kick panel to the switch.

Is that located below the main fuze box. If so, there is a spare relay there I might try.

The clima relay? It is the big silver one behind the battery.

I have the wiring chart. A lot of shorthand there, and not much in the way of explanation for all the abbreviations. It shows a relay called k10, which I take to be what you are referring to. I'm early 601, not 2.5l, so maybe they're different.
But this is helpful-- I have a working tach, and working a/c, but non working egr and kickdown. I'm beginning to think all of this is related. Maybe I'll troubleshoot my way through the egr electricals and see if I wind up crawling out at the kickdown switch. Its still too cold here to really get the a/c fan to kick on, and thats also a component here. Im a klutz at electricals, unlike you whippersnappers. |
