Don't know anything about the car or the seller, just saw it on eBay.

Yeah, I think I might pick that one up if the CarFax comes back clean.

TwitchKitty 10-16-2004 02:47 PM

The auction says it is suitable as a driver. Wonder what my insurance company would say?

Zero feedback for the seller.

Hmmmm.....LOTS of $ involved and would be leary with no feedbacks.

Just my opinion. Who knows, could be a great car. Certainly looks great!!

fahrgewehr2--if ya get it I'll ride in it with you :D

Cheers,

Bill

Bill M.

Big O's fan... native Marylander. Just in NC for a few years while I earn my MA- which means no gullwings for now. :)

Did anyone read the article in Road & Track this month covering the 300SL's?

This is really why I posted it, I thought it was fun to look at the pictures. Amazing to think that it is 50 years old. Cliche time, they sure don't build 'em like that anymore.

I think these ones have a fuel injection system much like our diesels, just adapted for gas.

I can't believe they didn't post a picture with the doors open, big mistake. The background scenery was a poor choice also. No appreciation. The dash picture is excellent.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

If one rolls this car.....and it winds up upside down... how does one expect to get out ? Wasn't DeLorean's car that way also ?

You push out the windshield and just walk away from a very expensive wreck.............honest, I was told that is the factory's instructions to new owners.

Me too-I'm a native Bel Airian [is Belrian a word?] and love those O's. Miss Memorial Stadium though with Wild Bill in the stands....

Twitchkitty--I found it odd too that, with all the pics they posted, none were of the best feature of the car, the gullwings. I can't imagine why they didn't???

Cheers,

Bill

IMHO, anyone who buys this car (or any other of similar caliber) without either testing it himself or having a reputable service agent check it over either has more money than brains or else deserves whatever befalls him (or her).

Collector cars are great, but the area can be a minefield for the unwary.

Cheers,
Wes
