Question EGR disable or leave it alone?

I have been reading posts concerning the EGR valve. It seems some disable it to prevent coke build up. Does disabling really provide any advantage?

Mine is in 'Test Mode' right now.....

Solved some vacuum related issues and the intake is running a little bit cleaner these days.

Golf Tee's are wonderful little items.

My 87 603 powered 300D seems to be putting out about 75% less smoke under hard acceleration now that the EGR and air valve are disconnected. Otherwise it seems to run the same, hopefully the mileage went up a tad as well, but with all the city driving I am doing of late, there is no way to tell.

Thumbs up Thanx Guys!!

Since it doesn't seem that I will break anything by disabling it..... I will give it a try.

Do you disable the EGR just by disconnecting the vacuum hose that leads to it or is there something else that needs to be done?

Disable the egr, all of that tar can't be good for the valves. Disconect the vacuum line or make up a block plate and your all set.
