Is It Bad too....
I was talking to a Diesel friend last night, We were talking about starting the
car before the glow light goes out. If the engine is still hot, mine will start right up without uesing the glow plugs. I never do this, but will this hurt anything? He said no, I am not sure...What do you think? I wouldn't think it would hurt, at least as long as it doesn't take numerous cranks.

i dont think it would hurt anything either. your Glow plugs stay on for 1-2 minutes after the engine started anyway, and if the engine is still hot and kicks right on, then that means your glow plugs will stay on 3 seconds longer. i do it all the time if i am running errands and keep turning my car on. if the engine is hot, even after 2 hours, it kicks on after 1 second glow.

The owners manual for my car says that you do not need to consult the preglow lamp on the dashboard if the engine has recently been running, and is at or nearly at operating temperature. Turn the key and go.

As long as you dont have to do compression starts, it should be fine.
