How do you organize tools/spare parts in trunk

What do you use to keep your tools and filters/parts organized in the trunk of your car? Just curious. My stuff's still in a cardboard box slidin' around the trunk when I'm cornering. Anybody rig up a cargo net for the trunk?

I happened to get two boxes that are exactly half the length of my trunk and wedge them together so they stay put. In other cars I've had I've tied a piece of string to something then around the box, but I couldn't find anything to tie to in my Mercedes.

I've got a wagon so no trunk but I got ahold of some of those plastic boxes with the locking lids. Mine came from a pharmacy and were used by them to ship/distribute drugs. they stack nice and the lids lock down pretty good.

Maybe a version of a loadlock would work to keep your stuff from sliding around. Loadlocks are made for box trucks to put crossways in the box. They are spring-loaded tubes with a rubber pad on each end. Kinda a larger version of a spring loaded curtain rod. A place that sells truck stuff will have one but I'm sure they're too big for your application. You could at least go look at one to get an idea of how to make your own.

Cheers,

Bill
