CamShaft on 617...?
I checked my camshaft and was looking at all the humps, thing is they all look fine and not worn out. Question is, would there be naything ells to look at except wear on the humps.?

A crankshaft doesn't have bumps. A camshaft has bumps.

In the very early eighties, a major improvement was made to the camshafts, greatly increasing the surface hardness and thus longevity. Metallurically rather than dimensional, IIRC. These cams had much less chance of developing flats on the cam lobe. They were matched with valve lifter arms with hardened inserts. Unless you have the older style which has developed significant flats - maybe 3mm or more -or something scored the bearing journals, you are probably fine. My original cam with 248,000 mi went back in as it was, with no measurable variation from baseline dimensions

I'll second what Pete just said - In the last 240D engine rebuild I did (at 255K miles) I carefully measured my camshaft - In EVERY dimension my camshaft showed ZERO wear from published "new" specifications.

Sometime in 1982 MB switched all the OM61x engines to a "fast rise" exhaust lobe. I don't know about the strength of the newer cams but the cam in my '84 engine shows no flat spots at all.
