"81 300D non-turbo 0-60 MPH in 20 secs?
Hello everyone,
I just adjusted the valves today and plugged the egr vac tube. this car is new to me with about 225K mi. it feels as though it is quicker than before. I wish that I had thought to time it before I had done anything to it. I am wondering if there is anything else I can do to better it's acceleration. from what ive seen here- the ALDA adjustment is for altitude corrections on non turbo models. |
I dont think theres anything you can do for a non turbo diesel. Turbos are a different story.
I think we need someone else with a non turbo 300D to post times. I am curious, since I may buy one. |
I don't know what stock 0-60 is but 20sec sounds about right. Whats the rush? You have a Merc the other drivers can wait! :D

I thought 20secs was about right. I have no base of reference with MBs since this is my first one. There doesent seem to be much here that is specifically about the non turbo 300d. I need familiarity with the different models - I'm learning quickly. Hopefully this will be my daily driver and we will be able to get rid of our rapidly depreciating Ply. Voyager. Am I correct though-- the AlDA on non-turbos is for alt. correction only?

I had a '79 300D with about 330,000 miles on it. My friends nicknamed it "Colnel Mustard"
0-60 times on it were measured in minutes. |
Yes, the ALDA on non turbo 300D's is only for altitude compensation. The turbo ALDA is more complex and increases fuel delivery as boost goes up, but an NA engine has no boost.
