Fear factor???

Where will you NOT drive your MB diesel???

 Some areas of Detroit and Lansing where other gassers of mine where destroyed by fatal pot holes!!!

A truck stop west of Ann Arbor where my last F150 had to be towed out of a pot hole by a semi tractor!!!

No offense to those who live there. Much of eastern Massachusetts. The combination of potholes you could lose your car in, people who never signal and BS you for living, and the high density building and population. A lot of the scenery is disturbing, and very low class.

Losing the SDL in a pothole wouldn't be the end of the world. First of all, I'm more likely to crawl out of the pothole if I was in the SDL, and second, I can put the 603.96 in a downed S350 and start living it up.

The thing that I'll never get used to in Mass. driving is the how folks make a left turn against traffic when the light turns green.

See what happens when you remove the open discussion forum? :D

I'd drive the 300CD anywhere, except a very sandy field covered with a foot or two of snow. I've done this, and I got stuck...

The amount of time i've spent on the road is in its infancy compared to most members. But i already dislike LA alot. Seems like alot of uninsured and/or unlicensed folks share the roads (i've been fortunate enough to not deal with these, but my friends aren't so fortunate). The traffic is horrific and the freeways are piss poor condition.

I hate driving mine to New Haven I am just waiting to get hit! Everyone in that stupid city drives like their drunk, crazy, or on drugs.

I have yet to find a place I won't drive my SD, be it off road, deep snow....anywhere, and I haven't gotten stuck yet either, even when I had junky futura tires. Our street is a hill, and I made it up last winter in 18" of snow.....quite a feat :D Now I have those ultra-grippy Assurance tires, and I believe I'm pretty good to go in most any conditions, on road or off :D :D The one place that scares me however, is the parking ramp at school, and some areas downtown/on the freeway mergers, Grand Rapids is renound for some of the worst designed interchanges ever.

whunter,

I avoid where there is salt on the roads and try to avoid non paved roads, at least for the good 300SD, 300SEL 6.3 and 300SDL. The beater 300SD, I take anywhere it will go.

My wife and I live in the SF Bay Area, her parents live in Nevada. I will not drive my diesel Merceds up there in the winter. There is'nt a snow balls chance in hell that I could get it started in the morning after it sat out all night. :D

I will not take the short cut between parking lots in Muskegon State Park again.

I will drive all the way around and stay on the pavement.

I will not get stuck in the sand between the parking lots, up to the floorboards. :D

Dang, that was one embarassing short cut...

Jim
