No, the Indiana "environmental" plates (special order) are usually stuck on the back side of HUGE SUVs these days. Saw one on the back of a Hummer H2 last week.

Good for a laugh if nothing else, talk about clueless!

Anyway, check the chain stretch and injection timing on that 300D, and learn to keep your foot out of it a little. You will get better performance with a new chain it the old one has more than 4 degrees of stretch, and setting the injection timing back to 26 BTDC will make a huge difference!

Peter

Unfortunately, petroleum prices are only going one direction. Up. There are seasonal and economic variations, but in the end, the trend is always going to be towards higher prices.

Don't park that diesel, because when (not if) petroleum runs out, or sooner yet, petroleum from non-mid-east petro-states runs out, price control will hit a new high, and it will make the embargos of the 70s seem like a dress rehearsal. Your diesel, however, will run happily on domestically produced biodiesel, or waste oil for the intrepid. Sure, biodiesel seems expensive now, but wait till petroleum fuels go over 4$ a gallon. Its already at that point in much of Europe.

Day to day costs not withstanding, looking at long term costs, the diesel is still probably a better bet. Even better, get a bicycle.

peace,
Sam

Thumbs up Free Fuel !!!

I run a 25% mix of diesel and WVO. Though my fuel costs have increased, I still get a certain satisfaction by running WVO. Ol' George W. can not eek as much profit out of me. Good thing George is a big oil man from Texas and not into farming.

Thumbs up Old Navy is CORRECT !!

Mr. Diesel invented the engine for farm machinery. That way farmers could produce a crop for fuel. It was peanut oil. Mr. Diesel was crossing the English channel when he "mysteriously" fell overboard and drowned. The was great controversy at the time because there were also Standard Oil executives and employees onboard at the same time. Hmmmm......

No, I haven't parked my diesel in order to drive a less efficient vehicle just because the price of fuel is up. What a silly question.

When I drive a diesel I'm still burning less fuel than if I drove a gas vehicle, that seems like a good thing. So what if it costs me a little more right now, there was much of the year when diesel was cheaper than gas. As was pointed out, just a gallon or two of WVO dumped in the tank will stack the deck in your favor far more than the price differential.

Kevin

That's "Doctor" Diesel!

I've had diesels for a number of years through many changes in fuel prices. There are non related market forces affecting the two fuels. In the long run diesel fuel is cheaper than gasoline, but there are some minority occasions when its not though. The best plan is to have both fuels available and use whichever is cheaper, but if you only have parking for one, stick with the diesel.

The $2.15 fuel I bought was just last Friday.

everybody else is no "cheaper" than $2.23.

I only lost a fraction. I was getting 28.8/gal. now I'm getting 28.3 MPG. Every 1/10th counts with these prices

Cheers,

Bill

WOW gas prices just spiked here literally within the last hour regular went from 2.15 up to 2.23, super+ is at 2.38 now. The good news is that diesel stayed the same so its actually the cheapest now. Don't know if this is the trend else where around Michigan but just what I saw within a few sq.mile radius of my house.
