bleeding brakes with garden pump

I put together a garden pump based brake bleeder as per info on this site. I can't get a good seal on the master cylinder. I'm using a master cylinder cap from a scrapped car, but it doesn't seat air tight on the m/c. Does anyone have hit about creating a gasket or something to seal it.

The rest of the setup will hold pressure, but not when I put it onto the m/c.

This is for a 1982 300D.

Are you sure it's the cap not sealing well? It might be the vent caps or fluid level sensor grommets or something else leaking.

Cap won't seal

nevremj,

1. Make sure that there is a rubber seal under the spare cap& screw it on tightly..
2. If your master cylinder has two low hydralic level sensors, unplug both electrical connections and then find a rubber hose that is the right size to fit snugly over the connections on the master cylinder. Then snap each end of the hose over one of the connections like a jumper hose. Now all the areas that could leak are sealed.
Try your pressure bleeder now. This solution worked great for me.

Good luck!!

Bens
