You are confusing fuse number with terminal number.

MB numbers the wire connections by function. #50 is the starter circuit, #15 is "ignition on". The numbers are stamped in the metal or molded into the plastic parts of the fuse box, underneath where you want to attach the wires. Couple screws hold the fuse holder in the box, remove and pull the holder up and turn upside down.

I simply ran the entire harness inside (4 wires) and tied them into the harness that was hooked to the old glow plug relay/controller (which I disconnected). BTW, you can find both terminal 15 and 50 on the back of the starter switch. I will try to get some pictures this weekend and post the wiring diagram along with it.

Thanks for the help.

I was going to tackle this on Sunday but I have to go pick up a 74 240d 4-speed parts car so it will probobly be Tuesday before I get time to work on it.

If you find pictures, they will be appreciated. I will see which will make a neater job, under the fuse box or under the dash.

Thanks again,
Brian

Got it

After reading several threads about the fast glow kit and getting "glowing" reveiws I decided I would be money ahead to buy it. I ordered it the same day the kit went on sale. Hard to believe with my luck.
Well it took me several days to decide where I wanted to mount the controller and I made up the wires ahead of time so of course when I finally decided where to connect everything I would have been better off making different wires and moving the controller but it was late, I was tired so I stuck to the game plan.
I mounted the controller on the side of the aux fan relay bracket, this gave me a ten inch wire to the positive battery terminal and about 42 inches to the rear gp, aprox eight inches to the terminal on the bottom of the fuse box holder and a short run through the firewall with the vacuum line to the gp light in the dash(yes, it was an element I had to change to light bulb), I ran the black? wire and the ground across the firewall to the ac/start cut out relay on the passenger firewall and soldered the black wire in the harness, grounded the brown wire to the bracket screwed to the firewall. And I changed the glow plugs and the connecting wires ( you can bet if I see a set of open sockets or gear wrenches with a 21 mm or 13/16 included I will buy it).
It does not appear that Phil needs any help selling the fast glow kits but man they work well.
My 76 240d was getting a little slow starting, had me worried since I don't know history or mileage of the car. I had bought the biggest battery that would fit in the box, adjusted the valves, rebuilt the starter checked the cables and ground but it still cranked for a little longer than I thought it should before starting and winter was getting closer.
Well I was right, after letting the light cycle off on the fast glow system it starts as soon as I pull the switch, so far 3-5 seconds at 40-45 degrees. Incredible differance.

Best money you can spend on a mercedes with the loop type glow plugs.

You might be able to see in the first picture below how much overspray (that will be another thread)and how crappy the engine compartment looked when I started this project but the second picture shows how much better it looks with just a little attention.
If you look just over the orange positive post cover on the battery you can see the controller and after finishing the job I can tell you, don't put it there!
Everything on the car is jammed in on this side of the car and there is nothing on the other side except the easiest place to connect the wires for this system.
When I install this system on the 74 240 I will mount the controller on the pass side fender,
run the 8 awg aprox 18-24 inches to the battery cable connection on the
battery,
run the 8 awg wire aprox 48-54 inches to the rear glow plug,
ground the brown wire under the controller,
run the red and the black wire to the ac/start cutout relay and solder them in the harness making sure the red wire is hot when the key is on and the black is hot when the start switch is pulled.
I will still have to run the green wire to the dash indicator and change the element to a light bulb and add a ground but the job will be neater, faster, easier and the driver side will not be so crowded.
It is late and the wiring about is by memory but I think it is correct, I will try to double check it tomorrow,
