Near the end of July this year, I ended a number of months of looking for a Mercedes-Benz diesel by purchasing engatwork's black 1985 300D.

I've since put a little over 3k miles on it as a daily driver, and I'm pleased to say that it's one nice driving car!

It's serving me admirably every day. I think it's also serving me as an excellent introduction to both diesels and to Mercedes-Benz automobiles, and I'm enjoying the ride. So thanks, engatwork!

Thanks, too, to those here who helped or offered to help by eyeballing possible candidate cars for me in parts distant. I even had an offer to "road trip" with me to inspect a car.

Thanks also, of course, to all the folks here who provide the technical content and community that make this forum such a great resource. As I've said before, my hat's off to the lot of you.

Thanks eskimo - that is a good car that should serve you well for a long time. I've noticed that it is pretty easy to rebuild these cars to make them drive like brand new.

The car's an '85, with engine and transmission transplanted from an earlier car with fewer miles. 257,XXX on the clock, so I'd like to see that second mileage badge in a few years!
