I never realized how many youngsters there are here. I envy you younger ones-If I would've gotten into 123's at most of your ages, I would have been buying a new one. Wish I would've known these cars when I was younger-buy new, take care of it, lasts a lifetime.

For the record, I'm a cool old guy at 47-- but act 20. I still do the same stuff I did when I was 20--motorcycles, fishing and pretty much anything that goes on outdoors I'm into, except hunting. All that waiting around for something to walk by has always bored me so I never was much into hunting.

Interesting thread-we all ought to get together. I've got a farm here big enough to accomodate all the 123s in the U.S.-Hey, anybody know how many members we've got??

Cheers and keep rockin',

Bill

43 - but if such a forum was available to me when I was 17 trying to resurrect a 60 chevy truck, I would have been there for sure. What a struggle it was to get basic information and learn almost totally on my own. I suppose it fed the stubborn streak in me that still burns, but if I had a source of better information back then, it sure would have helped. If you younger guys can benefit from others mistakes, you'll be that much further along to your goals which are hopefully in your sights by now. Driving older vehicles for over 25 years that I fix myself has helped put me in better financial condition than many of my peers. Hopefully many of you too.

I got my first car 52 years ago and my first diesel (240D) 26 years ago.

Age is a relative thing. You're only as old (or young) as you want to be.
I love long-hauling in the 300D and the 280 SL is great for cruising in AZ with the top down, but I get the most fun out of the Healey.

Cheers,
Wes

Well, I turned 22 a month ago. I am not a MB owner yet... I drive our W220 S500 as much as possible, but I am driving (and loving) my Saturn. I want a W123 240D badly as a project/weekend toy. I have a vision of what I want it to look like... while I love the elgance of the W140, there is something that screams "understated class" when you roll up in a clean W123.

I'm still young - only 41! LOL. Maybe someday I'll feel grownup and responsible, but hopefully not anytime soon.

I'm probably one of the youngest ones here, 17, almost 18 though. I am young, but I love these old diesels, well, I like all old cars. I went to the car wash the day after I got the 300D, and one of the guys at the carwash came up to me, and he said "Say, that car is older than you isn't it?" I said yes, and we talked about how they don't make cars like those anymore, and how the 300Ds will last forever if properly cared for. I love MB diesels.

I just turned 19 in late August and have been around here since I was 17. I have wanted a diesel MB since I was 15. Now I'm hooked and broke!

Hey, I resemble that remark! What's so dumb about owning a 140? I love mine - and have for the six years I've had it.
