Just got a 87 190D 2.5 NA today
We picked up a 190D 2.5 today we saw in the local paper. Overall its a nice little car, I'll have to take pics of it when its nicer outside. I was suprised about the power from the 2.5 na (602). Too bad it didn't have the 5 speed, or the turbo. The car has about 140,000 on it, and looks to be taken care of well. The car was bought about 10 miles away from my house to the orignal owner. However, I think the 617 turbo has more pep than this car. I'm sure it gets better mileage though.
Just a few minor things wrong with the car (I hope!) Its needs a new damper for the belt tensioner, which looks like this happens a lot with these. And it needs a new blower motor, the bearings are shot. Other than that the car seems in good shape. I only wish it came with some type of records from PO's. I'll try to have pics up tomorrowish. BTW, if any 190D 2.5 (201 body) owners are around, let me know if doing the damper and the blower motor is a PITA. Thanks

Sounds like a nice little car and wouldn't mind having one too. The 602 belt tensioner/damper may be the same for the 603, and if so, aren't too difficult to replace. It's usually the tensioner that goes bad!
The mono wiper may need to come out of the way to get to the blower motor, at least this is the arrangement on the 124, and if so, it's an opportune time to re-grease the mono wiper system. Good luck with your new ride......BB |

blower motor
Just wondering if the bearings are truly shot or are they just squeaking like crazy? I was told my bearings were shot until I just opened up the cover and shot some WD40 down in there. Anyway, in any case you will have to remove the WW motor. Nice sounding car tho- I have a 86 190D with 227k. Most reliable car I have ever owned.

I just wanted to chime in and say props on your new 190. They are definately fun cars to have, which surprised the heck out of me when I first drove one. Now I wouldn't trade it for anything... except maybe a 5-speed model.
