In the meantime before you get the camera, put up a sign next to the car they will be sure to see that says "Your actions are being recorded. Turn around now and walk away or you will be prosecuted to the fullest intent of the law."

1) Buy a rifle
2) Attend sharp shooting school
3) Shoot first and then ask questions
4) Punks, thieves and terrorist are all the same. Pain is a great motivator.

Or you you can get a shot gun with some really large rock salt for a more non leathel method of ..errr...motivation.

the easy way out..

i cleaned my garage out and i parked the car inside yesterday...i got an average amount of tools, and some of them had to go to unusual places, the table saw is on the back porch covered with a tarp , which makes sense since i use it a lot and it fills the gargage with cubic yards of sawdust, and the power washer, i dont know yet...this will enhance the life of the car...

look at any deer hunting supply web site and they sell a fairly inexpensive camera with a motion detector for photographing deer moving through an area at night. you will get their photos next time.

Post your property no trespassing and prosecute them with the photos.....even if they don't touch anything its a strong deterance.

When I lived in TX my landlord had 2 livestock tanks on the front of the property but about 100yards from the road. Plenty of fish in them which naturally attracted every idiot with a fishing pole that cared to ignore the numerous "no trespassing" signs. They actually got bold enough that they would wait until his truck left and then enter the property. To cure this he had his wife leave the farm with his truck a few times and he would be waiting with the rifle. Its amazing how effective 4-5 rounds landing just a few yards away from a person acts as a deterent. Never seen anyone run that fast before either. Left their fishing gear and everything. This had to be repeated a couple of times but then the reputation of the farm was solidified and no one set foot on it again. Yep, truly loved Texas and living in the country. I would recommend the surveillance camera gear for the urban areas though. Save the ammunition for when they break into your home. RT

4 or 5 rounds in New Jersey....uh, not such a good idea...

that would kind of be the emotional equivalent of detonating a small n___r warhead in NJ--discharging a firearm, even if in self defense.
This is not a big NRA state, and its quite different from Texas..this is a very litigation oriented state.... (sigh)

All the more reason to get the liberals that care more about criminals rights the rights of citizens out of office and get more reasonible people into office.

Your second amendment rights are no less sacred than their first amendment rights.

A good friend of mine shot and killed a man who was trying to enter his home recently... The guy was a neighbor who was angry and claiming my friend was abusing the neighbor's dog (he wasn't). The man had a 2x4 and was waving it around screaming from outside the door, and when he grabbed the door to open it and come in, my friend shot him through the door with a 12 gauge.. The guy died in the hospital a few hours later.

It was in Colorado, where the 'make my day' law is in effect, if someone is entering your home with the intent to commit violence (not entering your property, they have to be entering your house), you can use deadly force, up to and including guns, to stop them. The court backed my friend up, and he suffered no legal consequences.

But he hasn't been the same since. While he was legally in the right, the fact remains that he killed a man face to face, and thats something no one should have to do. It has been incredibly hard on him, and it'll take him a long time to recover from it. It sounds fun to hide out on your property with a gun and take pot-shots at trespassers, but when you hit and kill some kid, even if you are in the legal right, you won't think its so great.

Anyway, not to be morbid, just recommending the non-violent solutions people have suggested, photography and the like. I had my motorscooter stolen a few years ago, and then there was an attempted theft on my second scooter. Finally the local university, who owns most of the apartment buildings on my block (but not our building) hired a private security company to patrol the neighborhood. They just slowly drive around with a flashing yellow light. Suddenly all the petty crime just evaporated. I think it was a bunch of youth doing it, and faced with the prospect of authority, they just gave up. A simple but effective solution, my third scooter has been unmolested for 2 years now.

peace,
sam

True, non-violent means is preffered, I can imagine thats a heavy burden to carry but sometimes its needed, I mean what would have happened if he did nothing.

Criminals who know they face no armed homeowners act with impunity. Take Washington DC for example and the home invasions there.

Almost everywhere else that would result in Darwinian cleaning of the gene pool.

Your property, your possesions, your rights....anyone who values those of the criminals above yours has no business in office.

Peaceful solution.... call the police.... get an alarm.... call somebody else???

How about confronting the kids instead, literally knocking on the door where the little bastards live. That's all you've got to do.

God save us from a crybaby driven society where men behave more like women.

Ok, you need to have way more respect for women then that.
