I know whose vand'lzing my car, how do I stop it?

I couldnt believe my eyes tonite. I was coming up the street tonite. Ahead of me was a car containing the very kids who I suspected had tried to crack my door lock on my Mercedes came up the street .
It stopped outside my house for a few minutes. The door opened and the kid got out and started going up the driveway but thats when he saw me and he got back in and left.
I dont want any trouble. Besides a big part of me siad maybe I was imagining things and watching to much TV.
My Zen says peace, time and patience solve everything. For all I know this kid is going to be a decent upstanding citizen someday. That plus the fact that maybe I was just imagining....
Until then whats the cheapest Alarm solution with a motion sensor that will make the loudest noise? The car has an oboard alarm but I disarmed it because its way too sensitive, it goes off even when I'm driving-maybe the previous owner messed up on the radio install.
I'm not sure whats going on with this car, whether its going to be sold or kept, but I dont want too have to fix it again or worse get it taken for a joyride...

Teenage Thugs

1. Get the license tag # of the "perps" if you can.
2. If not and you can I.D. the little Bastards ALWAYS REMBER , THERE IS
AN ADULT(s) WHO ARE LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE, UNDER THE LAW FOR THE
ACTIONS OF THEIR CHARGES.
3. Install inexpensive motion sensor spotlights in the "Drive" + any other
areas pertinent.
4. Call the Police , does your local jurisdiction have an anti-terrorism unit?
5. In this day and age, if I were a Lady who felt threatened , there is no
way to tell who , or what the agressors have as an agenda.Call your
local U.S. Senator's office and raise hell about being stalked by
Potential Terrorists !

Start with the lights that go on with a motion detector. That should at least encourage them to look elsewhere.

paint ball gun :D
and a shotgun just in case

rg2098 10-31-2004 09:18 AM

Make sure to freeze the paintballs, that will give them some more encouragment to go elsewhere. :D

and an automatic gate closer to lock them inside your property. LOL

Get a digital camera that works on the motion sensor- proof for court.

Maybe re-connect the on-board alarm with a hidden switch you can use to switch it off when you are driving.

The problem with trying to resolve this type of incident through confrontation or the police is the worry about retaliation. I had an incident at my home about 2 years ago. I was outside my house with my dog late one night but was in a shaded part of my side yard. I heard a comotion down the street and saw three kids coming towards my home obviously drunk or drugged. One was particularly vocal and as he got to my driveway he pulled out a knife and slashed the garbage bags at the end of my driveway. A real mess. I was mad as hell and ran down the driveway to confront them along with my dog. Yeah, I realise it was stupid but it was a reaction to the situation. When I told them I had seen them slash my garbage they got all defensive and tried to deny it. One even tried to put the garbage back into the split bags. They said the didn't want any trouble (I think they were so surprised at being caught and the dog probably helped) so I decide to back off and let them go.
I got the dog inside and then followed them in my wife's Camry making sure they didn't see me. Eventually they went into a house a few blocks away. Next day I went around to the house after work. Dad answered the door and I asked if his son was home. 'Knife Slasher' himself appears, dad goes back into kitchen but within hearing range. Kid's eyes are as big as saucers. I remained calm and said we had met the night before. He told me he hadn't been out. I asked if he had a brother that looked like him and he said yes. I said well maybe it was your brother, but either way I didn't appreciate my property being vandalized and related the incident. I told him we had had a number of problems on my street over the last few months and my neighbour had taken to keeping a video camera handy. Last night when he heard all the noise coming down the street he used it to film what had happened. I told the kid to tell his brother that if we had any more trouble from him or his friends whatsoever, that tape was going to the police along with this address. Of course I was totally bluffing about the video camera and film, but I never had any trouble after that. :D

A video camera! And don't be afraid that you are harming this kid buy turning him into the police. He has a better chance of turning into an upstanding citizen one day if you turn him in now instead of letting him get away with it. In the past, I've let stuff slide and even talked to parents only to see nothing done and those same kids end up in jail or trouble later in their life. Put a stop to it now while they are still a juvenile.

I am a firm believer in video tapes..................get one of these low light high res cameras on ebay and hook it up to a VCR ...........the cheap way out, a more expensive is get a security recorder.....search ebay on those two words, you can use you computer in conjuction with the camera to record it. and park it in a well lit area close to the house.

A video is worth a million words in court.

44 does mean one thing---I think I have mellowed some...

My Father was from the old country and he was a very peaceful and gentle man who always avoided raising his voice and he always walked away from a confontation...
I have to admit I'm a thousand times less than he is
My stupid side did feel for one millionth of a sec. like jumping out of the car... and I do know where they play pickup basketball and maybe I could still chance a game...but then I thought, my father lasted 80 years through troubled times in history and a back breaking life without thinking emotionally and unwisely like that,
Here I am burned out at 44 because I think stupidly and get emotional sometimes...I love this car and I put a lot of work into it, but I'm determined to be quiet in this neighborhood and maybe I'll just park it somewhere else...besides the universe talks to you in funny ways, maybe I'll just pull up roots and head to the Pacific Side, something I am dreaming of for every day the last five years...

and putting up with me..

Hey, I doubt it would be any better in any metropolitan area in California. You have lowlifes anywhere you go. ANd they seem to concentrate in large metro areas.
