Adjusting front end

A while back, I had the front end aligned on my 1980 300sd.

The shop thought that it was pulling a little to the left after he finished the alignment, but the owner said that all of the adjustment has already been used up so he could not do any more. He spent a couple of hours on it so was not goofing off.

I cannot feel any pulling to either side, but was wondering what I might need to rebuild in order to restore some adjustments to it next time I have it aligned.

Thanks

Ball joints, track rod bushings, control arm bushings (which means upper control arm if they are bad on that one, I think).

You should test all these before going hog wild and replacing everything, although it won't HURT to do all of them! Lower ball joints are a PITA, control arm bushings require a spring compressor.

A real strong spring compressor.......don't skimp there, you have to compress spings over 4" just to get them in and out. And if a cheap compressor breaks or slips it CAN kill you. They are under a tremendous load.
